A special forest
completed by emptying
The land we first encountered was full of wounds — a foul smell and rough thickets blocking the way. Just as we turned to leave, a single oak tree rising proudly out of the desolation caught our eye and stopped us in our tracks.
The moment we saw that tree, standing like the land's last shred of pride, a powerful conviction took hold of us.
“We must breathe life into this place again.”
We first sought to restore the land's own breath, cutting back the tangled grass so the earth could breathe once more.
“Let's not build too much.”, “Not damaging nature too much comes first.”
True building was not about adding, but about emptying. Over the ten-plus years it took, we began to encounter the land's own inherent beauty.
Now nature has become the owner, and in this space we filled by emptying, we are finally beginning to dream a real dream of healing and restoration.
